so when you hit a jump the chain bounce's a little on every bike it's to help the frame if the chain reaches that far

it's called a lizard skin it's to protect that part of the frame so if you hit a jump it won't scratch that part to piece's and the ties where to hold it in place better

It is a freeride but you could ad a bigger fork and it qwould be downhill its both but more freeride
